Society of Illustrators Lifetime Achievement Award Recognizes Dahlov Ipcar

Dahlov Ipcar received the prestigious Original Art Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Illustrators. Ipcar is in outstanding company, including Mary Blair, Maurice Sendack, Faith Ringgold, Robert McCloskey, Eric Carle, Theodor Geisel, fellow 2023 inductee William Joyce, and more. Nominees of The Original Art Lifetime Achievement Award are judged to have a body of work that documents an innovative and pioneering contribution to the field of children's book illustration, and final selection is made by artists whose work has been juried into the previous year's show.

The award was accepted on her behalf by her son Robert Ipcar and family at the Society of Illustrators in a November 2023 ceremony in New York City.
